Now that the polls have closed, we want to share with our members, supporters, and donors how this snap General Election has been a success for the British Democrats. Although we do not anticipate receiving a large number of votes in the constituencies we are contesting, we would like to inform you about our accomplishments over the last six weeks.
Though a surprise, the snap election did not deter us from our mission. We adapted and accomplished as much as possible within the six-week campaign, a testament to our resilience and dedication.
It’s been a busy first half of the year for the British Democrats. In March, we won the Town Council by-election in Cambridgeshire, polling 47% and beating the Labour Party into second place.
Afterwards, our activists enthusiastically participated in the local election campaigns, and we achieved the highest Nationalist votes in the country for the second consecutive year. Our candidate, Julian Leppert, obtained an impressive party percentage of 22% in Waltham Abbey for the Epping Forest District Council election, resulting in excellent overall results.
When the local elections ended, our activists were back on the streets preparing for the next British Democrats campaign when Rishi Sunak suddenly called a snap General Election! This decision caught the entire country by surprise.
As detailed on our website’s General Election announcement, the British Democrats strategically decided to field parliamentary candidates in a limited number of selected constituencies. This decision was made with careful consideration and planning.
We have successfully achieved our goals during this campaign, as you can see below:
1) We’ve recruited new members, gained more subscribers, new donors, and, importantly, new voters. Hundreds of thousands will have heard about the British Democrats for the first time, resulting in a significant increase of viewers to our website.
2) We designed, printed, and delivered 215,000 leaflets to Yorkshire, Essex, and Kent addresses. We used the Royal Mail free delivery system for most of this significant leaflet drop, allowing candidates to have literature delivered to every address in the constituency. In addition, we recently distributed local election and generic leaflets around the country. So far this year, 250,000 British Democrats leaflets have been distributed, and it’s only July!
3) We have received favourable, constructive, and practical coverage in local newspapers (print and online).

4) Maintained and increased the visibility of our candidates in the constituencies where we ran and will be contesting County Council elections next year.
5) Some of our candidates have taken part in election hustings against the major political parties. Several British Democrat candidates were excluded from the hustings, revealing the establishment’s fear of genuine debate!

6) We have demonstrated that we are capable of raising funds for larger electoral campaigns when necessary.

7) Building the British Democrats brand by participating in this General Election demonstrates that we are on the right path in the long struggle for the survival of our country and its people.
This campaign marks another step in the right direction for the British Democrats, cementing our position as a permanent fixture in British politics and aiming to become a national political force. However, our Community-Based political strategy will remain at the forefront moving forward.
British Democrats – A beacon of hope and a wonderful team
