The British Democrats engage in community-based politics year-round, setting ourselves apart from other parties who only seek votes at election time with leaflets and slogans.

A recent example occurred in Maidstone, Kent, where our National Elections Officer, Lawrence Rustem, obtained two new road signs for residents in Shepway ward.

Neglected for years, Shepway Ward required new signs on York Road. Despite not being damaged or worn, the signs had disappeared entirely from the metal stands, as shown in the photos below.

When Lawrence noticed this issue, he immediately contacted Street Scene, the department at Maidstone Borough Council that deals with road signs. This proactive approach demonstrates the British Democrats’ commitment to serving the community. See the exchange of emails below.

Labour and Conservative councillors have represented the newly formed Shepway Ward in recent years. Still, both parties should have contacted the Street Scene department to replace the signs.

Regular contact with the council from Lawrence has ensured that the entrance to York Road looks a lot better than it did prior to British Democrats action. As you can see in the photo below, the brand new road signs have been installed thanks to Lawrence.

The British Democrats are dedicated to serving the British people to the best of our ability. We will continue to work on behalf of local people as part of our commitment to community-based politics. We also have experienced officials who can provide sound advice on important issues such as housing for local people.

Lawrence Rustem, showed that our party is able to make a difference at a local level by getting things done. Well done Lawrence!
