The London Councils are facing immense pressure due to the influx of asylum seekers. Instead of urging the government to close the borders, they are resettling refugees in small villages in the north of England.
A few days ago, reports emerged that towns and villages across County Durham are seeing an influx of refugees who have relocated to the North East of England after Councils from Southern England moved them up there. Cheap housing in underprivileged towns and villages, where properties are known to sell for as little as £5,000, make them prime locations for councils to place migrants in the care of greedy private landlords.
The ‘dumping’ of asylum seekers and refugees, a practice that began last year, has had a significant impact on the North East. Due to a shortage of social housing in the capital, London Borough Councils have been moving vulnerable households to the north every month into homes owned by private landlords. This has led to a noticeable increase in the number of refugees in County Durham, a fact confirmed by multiple sources.
The North East of England is facing a housing crisis, with 75,000 families on waiting lists for social housing and over 300 children homeless in County Durham alone. What’s particularly disappointing is that the government is permitting London Councils to relocate illegal migrants to deprived areas in the North of England, exacerbating an already dire situation.
It’s all very upsetting but hardly surprising given that Labour politicians have always given priority to immigrants—not neglected native Britons!
Unfortunately, other parties are not taking action to stop the neglect of British people, leaving the British Democrats as the only party willing to prioritise their interests.
