Despite winning the most votes in last month’s general elections in Austria, the Freedom Party’s path to power was blocked as other political parties declined to form a coalition.

Nevertheless, this does not mean the nationalist party is out of power. In a surprising turn of events, the Freedom Party (FPÖ) has recently achieved something that no nationalist party has gained in Austria or many other European countries.

Dr. Walter Rosenkranz, a 62-year-old lawyer and former presidential candidate, has made history. He was elected as the Speaker of the Austrian Parliament in a secret ballot, a significant milestone for the Freedom Party. This marks the first time a member of this nationalist party has held such an important position, the second-highest office in Austria.

In Parliament’s first session following last month’s national elections, Dr. Rosenkranz was elected with 100 out of 162 valid votes cast. FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl praised Rosenkranz for his “loyalty to democracy, the constitution and the rule of law”.

This appointment further indicates that nationalist parties are gradually gaining power and establishing themselves across Europe. Hopefully, a similar trend will occur in the UK with the British Democrats, whose activists are diligently working to save Britain. Sooner or later, their efforts will yield results.
