The government’s decision to release prisoners after serving only 40% of their sentences has sparked public outrage, and for good reason. Many of these early releases are violent criminals, posing an immediate and serious threat to our communities.
There is indeed a significant issue of overcrowding in our prisons; however, there are more effective solutions to this problem than simply releasing inmates early. One promising approach would be to transfer foreign prisoners to their home countries to serve their sentences.
It’s important to note that recent data indicates there are at least 10,000 foreign criminals incarcerated in prisons in England and Wales. This total includes 2,988 individuals convicted of violent offences and 1,575 convicted of sexual crimes. These foreign criminals represent 12% of the 87,028 offenders in these prisons, costing UK taxpayers approximately £530 million annually.
Deporting individuals would not only create more available prison space, eliminating the need for early prisoner releases, but it would also assist prison officers in their duties. Reduced overcrowding would facilitate better prison management.
Regrettably, the current government seems unwilling to implement such reasonable policies, leaving the British Democrats as the only party with a clear stance on this issue.

If 10,000 of 87,000 prisoners are foreigners, a significant percentage of the remaining 77,000 are still going to be non-white. Muslim and black inmates are not going to be described as foreigners if they were born here. The overcrowding in our prisons results from decades of uncontrolled immigration.
