By British Democrats Deputy Chairman, Stephen Smith

Great Minds Sometimes Think Alike.

British Democrats. Our name is sometimes a topic of discussion. Contemporary democracy itself (as a reality rather than a concept) is often viewed by genuine political radicals with utter contempt. Real democracy though has a rightfully hallowed place in European (especially ‘Anglo’) political heritage.

The word itself, democracy, comes from Ancient Greece; Demos – People, Kratos – Power. The power that British should receive is the power that gives them what they really want. What they really want, proven in numerous sophisticated surveys and quality opinion polls, dating back to the 1970s is – an end to immigration/multi-racialism, true national sovereignty, active protection against crime and an economy that serves us! The fact that the British people don’t get their political needs granted or their political opinions observed is because we don’t have a democracy!

The Democratic Deficit

British democracy’s effective, drastic decline began in 1997 and the situation has worsened ever since. The reason? The advent of Tony Blair and his ‘presidential’ style of government. The issues of democracy, laws of liberty, free speech have possibly been in slight decline in previous decades, but the key launch date for the rapid diminution of our cherished freedoms can be traced back to 2nd May 1997. New Labour and its cabinet of intellectually limited mediocrities and politically infantile MPs, all with a slave like devotion to ‘leader’ Tony. Government evaporated to a central nucleus of Blair, three key associates and an increasingly politicised Civil service.

Britain still has elections, the MSM is still multi-faceted. Anyone can form a political party. However, those advocating real radical alternatives to the system are consistently ignored by the MSM (thank God for social media). Those, such as, Radical British Nationalists, who really are an antidote to the system, enter the political arena and have to contend with instant MSM opprobrium and a combination of political obstacles in our path. There is never any honest political debate between us (Nationalists) and the System. The British State isn’t a democratic national entity but a mere segment of the impending global imperium whose ‘principles’ are Open Borders, Multi-Culturalism, Universal Money Power and ultimately planetary tyranny.

Our Political Roots

Within the Western World, the proponents and opponents of democracy are roughly equal. Go online and view hundreds of comments by famous people who are for and against. Democracy for all its faults gives the opportunity for that significant proportion of the public, electorate, which has a keen and active interest in current affairs, a method of changing a nation’s entire direction.

For those who despise democracy, their anger should be directed against, the false democracy we live under, in essence a quasi-tyranny. Moreover, when traditional, freedoms are once again established, let fools embrace the alternatives of open despotism, pseudo-democracy (hidden despotism) or the anarchy of primitive societies.

If less British people are voting in elections, this isn’t a ‘failure of democracy’, it’s because of the current state of affairs which creates apathy, despair and surrender.

Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, both endured a mixture of tyrannies, semi-democracies and sometimes grey areas in between. What cannot be denied is that those societies (city state of Athens in particular) devised various forms of political governance that enabled a range of individuals the chance to take their place in their respective states’ political leadership. The early development of healthy western political principles. This is part of our cultural inheritance.

Establishment Contempt for Britons

Mature British Nationalists. Need to accept that, in reality, most nations, very rarely receive the gift of a magical, dominant political figure, think – Augustus, Henry II, Cromwell, Napoleon or Bismarck. Such incredible characters, world historical individuals are not regular visitors. They are tiny drops in an ocean. For the majority of the time, we ‘make do’, with good leaders, sound committees and proper adult debate amongst ourselves and beyond, into society itself.

Cast the mind back to school days, being part of a young social group or sports team. Such associations never required a set of rules establishing a dictator or would be dictator. Leadership occurred naturally, if said leader became monstrous or incompetent, the rest of the group would ‘remove’ him by voting with their feet!

Real leaders, don’t need a cast-iron ‘constitution’ that keeps them in power in perpetuity.

The British Establishment, never had any kind of popular mandate to start mass immigration in the 1950s. Neither did they have an overwhelming tide of public opinion, in their favour, in 1972, to immerse Britain in political union with Europe.

Again the ‘democratic deficit’. Incidentally the plastic ‘patriots’ of Reform. Where is their commitment to democracy bearing in mind, they are a private company? Would a Reform government be a limited company as well?

The Way Forward

Democratic Nationalism seeks the promotion of the obvious popularity of Nationalist policies and ideals. Of course, democracy, like most things in life, can never be 100% perfect. What is? Nonetheless, I prefer the 80% of democratic imperfection to the 100% horror of political absolutism.

We in the British Democrats, have to consider purpose, process and political power. The party’s internal democracy gives us three key advantages:

1. Talented individuals can join the NEC via election, rather than the whim of an ersatz monarch.

2. The NEC (or Chairman) cannot act in a draconian manner. 3. All disciplinary tribunals are conducted by non-NEC members, selected at random i.e.. Independent. Checks and Balances, something traditionally British!

Party campaigns and political operations are carried on under our practical ethos of a group leadership. Though naturally in emergencies or where a time factor is involved, a particular NEC officer will take an immediate decision relating to their specific post in the party. We always discuss afterwards though. Thus, our Democratic Nationalist principles apply to the party’s internal leadership and routine activities.

We are mature adults of the Western World. We shun Asiatic style despotism. We never fear open debate. We will transfer our principles to eventual government.

The British Democrats are serious. We possess deep, patriotic roots. Peaceful, legal, political. Our main enemies are all forms of Globalism and its sub-ideologies of Cultural Marxism and Economic Liberalism. They will be defeated and the impositions of International Multi-Cultural tyranny will become a distant memory.

A genuine Democratic Nationalist state will emerge and we will travel the upward path again.

*Postscript 1- The development of British Democracy and related aspects of Free Speech and Legal Protections began life as a larger movement in the period just after the Civil War c.1650 onwards. American Democracy originated during and immediately after the War of Independence. What did 17th century Britain and 18th century America have in common? They were both Ethnically Homogenous and Culturally too. The thirteen colonies of the young United States could boast a population at the time of the 1790 census that was 91% British (English, Scots, Irish, Welsh). Anglo-American Democracy was only feasible in Mono-Ethnic societies. Societies built on mutual respect, high trust and the undercurrent of tribal-family feeling. In a word: Nation.

*Postscript 2 – The original British Democrats were a short-lived political group, active in the late 18th century. Marxists often claim them for themselves but Marxists often claim George Orwell and Bob Blatchford as well. Orwell was always an enigma and Blatchford referred to himself as a ‘Patriotic Socialist’.

Few documents remain about them but they generally could be considered as a mix of British reformers and revolutionaries with strong connections (philosophical and participatory) to the American and French Revolutions. Their demands at the time had an essentially British flavour about them; Parliamentary reform, frequent elections, male suffrage. Often described as the British Jacobins but this title could have been invented by the British Establishment to demonise them.
