The absurdity of the British immigration system reached new heights when it was revealed that a migrant who raped a sleeping woman had successfully appealed to remain in the UK. He claimed that his life would be at risk if he were deported to Jamaica due to his ‘bisexuality’.
The 41-year-old man claimed that he didn’t know it was wrong to have sex with a woman who was asleep. He was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2018 for the rape committed at a party. The man, who has been granted anonymity for his own protection, was released in June 2021 and received a deportation order, with the Home Office labelling him a ‘danger to the community’.
However, the migrant contested this decision, explaining that he had faced violence in his home country due to his sexuality, which was, he claimed, the reason for his move to the UK in 2018.
He testified before the tribunal that he was attacked with a metal bar, a machete, and dogs. The tribunal also heard that an older man he was dating was killed due to his sexual orientation.
An ‘expert’ stated the migrant would be a target if he returned due to his sexuality. However, the Home Office claimed there was only evidence of him dating women in the UK.
The judge ruled that the migrant was ‘incentivised not to re-offend due to the threat of being returned to prison,’ allowing him to stay. The application to appeal this decision was rejected.
How many foreign criminals are allowed to stay in the UK because deportation would breach their ‘human rights’?
Unfortunately, nothing is likely to change until the UK withdraws from the 1951 UN Convention on Refugees and the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). None of the political parties at Westminster will take action on this issue by withdrawing from those conventions, leaving the British Democrats as the only hope of stopping this situation and protecting our people.
