The number of immigrants arriving in the UK by boat has reached an unprecedented high, and all of them are being accommodated in hotels at taxpayers’ expense. As if this situation weren’t concerning enough, a new development in this story is likely to infuriate ordinary Britons.

Taxpayers’ money is used to buy new clothes and shoes for migrants crossing the channel, with £3,000 spent daily.

The packs are distributed to men, women, and children to replace their seawater-soaked clothing upon arriving in Dover after their dinghies have been intercepted by Border Force vessels.

The freebies include ‘weather-appropriate footwear’ such as flip-flops in summer. In winter, recipients receive a puffer jacket, hat, and gloves.

According to a former official, the Government stores thousands of clothing items of various sizes in a quayside warehouse that is comparable in size to a large shopping store.

They even have changing rooms for migrants to try on their new outfits, while they are reportedly allowed to keep their old clothes. This initiative, which has cost almost £4 million in the past three years, is funded by taxpayers. Some migrants are even provided with basic mobile phones to contact immigration officials.

Also, it’s been reported that local councils throughout Britain have spent over £140 million on illegal immigrants and asylum-seekers for activities and items such as yoga classes, PlayStations, driving lessons—and even tickets to football matches!

Meanwhile, Keir Starmer argued that it “makes sense” to cut winter fuel payments for millions of pensioners. The £140 million saved could have provided half a million winter fuel payments.

Is it any wonder many immigrants are willing to risk their lives to come to the UK when they can get treatment many native Britons facing hardship can only dream of? Why is the Government not giving free clothes and shoes to veterans sleeping rough on our streets?

Unfortunately, none of the three main political parties will address this absurd situation. As a result, the British Democrats are the only party taking a stand to end this madness by advocating for the withdrawal from the 1951 Refugee Convention—a multilateral treaty established by the United Nations—and the European Convention on Human Rights.
