The current migrant situation is not only concerning but also financially burdensome. With more than 38,000 migrants accommodated in hotel rooms, the daily cost is a staggering £5.5 million, adding up to an annual cost of £5 billion. This is in addition to the approximately 65,707 individuals living in various types of taxpayer-funded housing. Urgent action is needed to address this escalating issue.

Recent reports have uncovered a disturbing trend—taxpayer-funded migrant hotels are being used as brothels. Men are travelling to these establishments to pay for sex, and numerous women residing in various London facilities are allegedly engaged in prostitution.

Many men frequent these hotels primarily to engage in paid sexual encounters, while others may be either staying there or working on-site. Women in these establishments frequently face sexual harassment from men who are under the influence of alcohol and various drugs.

The problem has become so widespread that Rape Crisis felt it necessary to contact the Home Affairs Select Committee. They voiced their concerns, stating: “We have heard deeply troubling accounts of asylum-seeking women facing sexual harassment, violence, exploitation, and intimidation from some male residents and staff members in hotels and other accommodations provided by the Home Office.

“We have seen evidence of failings in vetting procedures and safeguarding training, as well as wholly inadequate complaints and misconduct processes, and a dearth of support for asylum-seeking women subjected to inappropriate behaviour and abuses of power by accommodation staff.”

“This points to systemic issues of sexual violence and abuse, rather than isolated incidents.”

This situation is quite alarming, and meaningful progress will remain elusive until Parliament takes decisive action to repeal the human rights legislation that currently permits refugees to enter the UK. Policy reform is urgently needed to address this crisis. Unfortunately, none of the three major political parties are prepared to tackle this issue, leaving the British Democrats as the only party willing to put an end to it.
