Glasgow City Council is in a dire financial situation, to the extent that it has to sack hundreds of council workers and cut several services. Nevertheless, it spends £54m every year to house immigrants and asylum seekers.

In Glasgow, the number of asylum seekers is now larger than the number of native homeless people. There has been a 337% increase in the number of asylum seekers living in accommodation, rising from 849 in 2023 to 3,716 currently.

Glasgow’s participation in the UK’s ‘dispersal’ system, which began in 1999, a scheme where the Home Office relocates asylum seekers for financial compensation, worsens the situation. Homelessness legislation in Scotland also requires councils to house homeless people.

Protests in Glasgow continue to grow because residents are expressing their concerns over a serious increase in the number of asylum seekers arriving in the city. They are calling on both the Glasgow Council and the Government to put a stop to the relocation of these individuals to their community.

Neither the administration at Holyrood nor the Westminster Government is willing to take action to address this issue. The political party that has a strong stance on this matter is the British Democrats. Join our campaign to ensure a traditional Britain for future generations.
