The British Democrats have long claimed that a significant number of the jobs created in the UK go to immigrants. Now, data released by the HMRC (HM Revenue & Customs) supports this assertion.

According to official figures, an increasing number of jobs in Britain were filled by Indian and Nigerian nationals between 2019 and 2023 than by UK nationals. This data, released by HMRC through a Freedom of Information request, is a significant and credible source, revealing that the most significant increase in employment during that period was among Indian nationals, with a rise of 487,900 jobs.

During the same period, Nigerian nationals saw an increase of 278,700 jobs, while UK nationals experienced a growth of 257,000 jobs. This stark imbalance in job distribution, with more jobs going to Indian and Nigerian nationals, is a pressing issue that demands immediate attention.

In total, 1.481 million more jobs were created during this period, with 1.465 million of these being filled by individuals from outside the EU. This data underscores the profound and significant impact of immigration on the job market.

Between December 2019 and December 2023, there were 241,600 fewer job positions held by EU nationals in the UK. This statistic is not just concerning but alarming, as it suggests a worrying trend where companies prefer to hire low-cost immigrant workers over offering decent wages to British workers.

Proof – if any was needed – that hundreds of thousands of Brits now have to compete with imported foreign labour. That imported labour generally has a lower wage expectation, making competition all the more difficult. It also tends to send money back home to feather the nest there, draining the economy here into the bargain.

Any Government genuinely interested in improving the Country would be embarking on a programme to skill up the home-grown talent across all trades and professions while stemming the flow of wage-supressing imports. But that wouldn’t go down well with their corporate paymasters.

However, the data was ‘far from perfect’ because it only covers employment and not those who aren’t working or are self-employed.

Unfortunately, none of the three main parties will address this issue, leaving the British Democrats to lead the way with the campaign to ensure that British jobs go to British workers.
