On Sunday, 15th September, members of the British Democrats gathered at a charming venue on the South East London/Kent border.

Party Secretary Michael Jones chaired the meeting.

The first speaker was the talented Matt Godden, who delivered an incredibly well-researched speech based on the flaws of the MacPherson Report and the dreadful ramifications of it.

The next speaker was former Mathematics Lecturer Adrian Romilly. Adrian delivered an engaging talk on the concept of Direct Democracy, which is similar to the Swiss model. Following his presentation, he fielded questions from the audience, sparking a lively debate.

Members enjoyed a light buffet, tea, coffee, and a good chat during the break. Our meetings are political gatherings and social events where members can connect and feel part of a community. Then, a raffle was drawn, and members in attendance donated several prizes.

Party Chairman Dr Jim Lewthwaite was the next speaker. He spoke on several topics, including the current historical context. He explained some opportunities and benefits of participating in parliamentary elections, citing raising the British Democrats’ profile as an example.

Councillor Christopher Bateman was the next speaker. Cllr Bateman spoke about housing and the lack of infrastructure for the mass building projects being rolled out across the country, including in his own borough of Basildon, Essex.

The final speaker was National Elections Officer Lawrence Rustem, who encouraged members to step up by putting themselves forward as local election candidates. Lawrence also criticised the Net Zero migration policy of Reform UK. He advised everyone to watch the footage on the British Democrats’ YouTube and Telegram channels of Nigel Farage explaining his ‘One in, One out’ policy, where he openly admits Reform would allow 600,000 migrants into the UK every single year. So much for being tough on immigration!

Michael Jones then paid tribute to our hardworking members, Councillor Christopher Bateman, and National Elections Officer Lawrence Rustem, for their commitment to community-based politics and getting things done for local people. He also mentioned some of the sterling work Membership Secretary and Administration Officer, Peter Finch, does for the party. Peter being another key part of our team.

A raffle and a collection generated a significant amount of money for party funds. We deeply appreciate the exceptional and unwavering support of our members and supporters, whose contributions are integral to the success of our party.
