The roots of Britannia stretch back to Roman Britain, where she first appeared on coinage in the second century AD to personify the island province. Following the Renaissance, her image experienced a powerful revival, symbolising Britain’s rising naval power and island sovereignty. By the Victorian era, she was established as an undisputed national emblem, embodying warrior strength, order, and civilisational stability. Through every historical trial, she has served as a constant reminder of what our ancestors built, defended, and passed down to succeeding generations.
In the modern political landscape, establishment elites aggressively promote multiculturalism, civic fragmentation, and historical self-loathing. Public institutions routinely neglect native cultural markers while state media outlets sanitise our national story. Against this tide of institutional betrayal, Britannia represents the unbroken continuity of British identity. She unites our historic home nations under a shared heritage, reminding our people that national identity is rooted in real bloodlines, physical geography, and centuries of collective achievement, rather than abstract globalist doctrines.
For a genuine nationalist party, displaying Britannia alongside the Union Flag sends an unmistakable message of national priority and uncompromising pride. While rival political parties adopt meaningless corporate logos or abstract geometric shapes, the British Democrats proudly stand beneath an icon that represents independence and strength. Her image signals our absolute commitment to enforcing strict border control, ending mass immigration, and restoring complete self-governance to the British people.

One of the most famous depictions of Britannia was by Frances Stewart, the Duchess of Richmond and Lennox. Frances was described by the diarist Samuel Pepys as “The greatest beauty he ever saw”.
Frances appeared on a coin to celebrate the end of the Anglo-Dutch war with the Peace of Breda in 1667. The coin was issued in 1672. Charles 11 wanted Frances to become his mistress but she always refused.
Frances died in 1702 at the age of 55.
