It is already an insult to British people that asylum seekers are housed in taxpayer-funded hotels, and now it has emerged that many of them have been caught shoplifting thousands of pounds worth of designer goods from stores in London’s West End.
The organised gangs were reportedly seen looting stores such as Ralph Lauren, John Lewis, and Liberty before returning to their taxpayer-funded luxury Holiday Inn hotel.
A private security guard who exposed the illegal activities complained that the police’s failure to address the issue had left the area ‘on the verge of lawlessness’.
Two asylum seekers were apprehended while meeting at a Holiday Inn in Wembley. The pair reportedly lined their bags with tin foil to confuse security systems. They jumped over the ticket barriers of the London Underground before leaving Bond Street station. They are said to have stolen goods from 15 different shops, including Reiss, Hollister, and Lilywhites, before handing the stolen items to a third accomplice.
The whistleblower stated that if caught, the migrants would present their IDs and acknowledge their status as asylum seekers, fully aware that they would not face serious repercussions. This lack of consequences is a clear injustice.
A security professional reported that the police respond to only two out of every ten individuals who are detained due to limited resources. When the police do respond, they typically issue a Community Resolution Order, which does not lead to a criminal record. This leniency not only fails to deter further criminal activities but also allows the individuals to continue their activities with impunity. Additionally, Community Resolutions are not currently recorded on the Police National Computer, making it difficult to track repeat offenders.
It’s worth remembering that the Holiday Inn in Wembley houses around 700 asylum seekers who shouldn’t be in the UK in the first place, let alone stealing luxury items. It’s also worth remembering that these ‘asylum seekers’ have travelled through many safe countries to get to Britain.
