A story reported in recent days has reignited debate about priorities within the NHS.

A migrant is said to have received gender reassignment surgery worth thousands of pounds while still applying for permission to remain in the UK.

The individual reportedly entered Britain from the Philippines several years ago as a man before undergoing gender reassignment surgery last year, funded by the NHS.

According to reports, the patient received consultations and care at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London before being referred to the private Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon, which works in partnership with the NHS.

British Democrats Secretary Michael Jones commented: “This gender reassignment ‘circus’ is not only an unnatural medical intervention but a blatant waste of taxpayers’ money. It is irresponsible and a slap in the face to hardworking Britons. As households struggle with the rising cost of living, it is a disgrace that public funds are being diverted towards ideological agendas rather than essential services. This comes at a time when millions of British patients remain on waiting lists for treatment.”
