The looney left in the UK repeatedly claim the NHS would collapse without immigrants. Of course, this is a lie not only because the demand for foreign staff is linked to an increase in demand caused by mass immigration but also because a solution to this problem can be found by training more Britons.
Furthermore, the reliance of the NHS on foreigners is causing the death of many people in poor countries because the poaching of doctors and nurses leaves their hospitals without medical staff putting the lives of poor people in peril.
The above arguments should be enough to reject the claim made by leftists. However, if someone is still unconvinced there is a story that should make clear why it’s wrong to hire medical staff from other countries.
A few days ago the media broke the news about dozens of nurses and midwives from Nigeria accused of cheating on their exams but still working in British hospitals.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) confirmed that 48 Nigerian professionals are suspected of paying someone to sit a computer-based exam that tests medical knowledge and which is needed to work in Britain.
The NMC said it was ‘more likely than not’ that those it has identified obtained their result fraudulently. However, they will still be allowed to treat patients while investigations are underway!
The 48 people identified sat the exam (which covers drug dosage calculations and clinical questions for health issues like diabetes) at the Yunnik Technologies Test Centre in Ibadan, southwest Nigeria.
An investigation by the NMC found ‘evidence of widespread fraudulent activity’ at the centre, meaning all the test results it has issued have now been deemed invalid.
These nurses and midwives will have their cases assessed by an independently appointed panel to decide if they gained fraudulent entry to the NMC Register.
If the panel determines they did, they would be removed from the Register losing the right to work as a nurse or midwife in the UK.
This is, of course, unacceptable but the pro-immigration lobby would prefer to put the lives of British patients in peril rather than acknowledge the NHS’s reliance on immigrants is wrong and must stop.
The only way to stop this madness is by supporting the British Democrats, a party which genuinely cares about British people and British patients.
