British Democrats wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

The cultural and sociological significance of Christianity to our society is profound. Our magnificent Cathedral buildings and Parish churches, rich choral inheritance and showing kindness to others lie at the heart of our identity. It is our duty to defend and preserve from those who misguidedly seek to undermine it by, for example, banning school nativity plays, renaming Christmas as ‘Winter Festival’ and replacing the Happy Christmas greeting with ‘Happy Holidays’.

Many of our customs and traditions date back more than a thousand years, to our Pagan past, such as the term Yule and the wood Yule log, which has transitioned into a chocolate log. Not forgetting, holly and kissing under the mistletoe. Also the bringing indoors of and decorating something green transitioned into our beloved Christmas tree.

Christmas is a time of goodwill and a chance to show appreciation of our families. Christmas trees and decorations, Santa Claus (Father Christmas), pulling Christmas crackers, exchanging Christmas cards, attending a convivial family meal, and exchanging gifts – especially giving presents to children.

May this festive season be filled with joy, love, and happiness for you and your loved ones. We hope that you take this time to relax and enjoy the Christmas break in the company of family and friends.

Best wishes and may we all have a peaceful and successful New Year.
