After the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria, many countries in continental Europe have ceased accepting asylum seekers from Syria to avoid a repeat of the 2015 crisis when Syrian refugees flooded many European nations.

The reasoning behind this decision is that the primary reason for Syrians leaving their country has been resolved; as a result, many of them may choose to stay in Syria. However, the Austrian government took it a step further by offering £800 to each Syrian refugee to encourage them to leave Austria and return to Syria.

While Austria has made this offer, the response from Syrian refugees remains uncertain. It is unclear how many will accept the offer. Austria plans to reduce the number of Syrian refugees through voluntary repatriation options. If necessary, it is prepared to use force in the future.

Austria is not alone in its efforts, as Germany also aims to compel Syrian refugees to return to Syria. Both countries have strong anti-immigration parties exerting pressure on their governments to take action.

Britain is currently the only country that is still accepting refugees from Syria and accommodating them in hotels at the expense of taxpayers. None of the political parties at Westminster is willing to address this issue, so it’s time to support, join, and campaign with the British Democrats.
