We are pleased to announce that Lawrence Rustem, our dedicated Elections Officer and Nominating Officer, will stand for the Maidstone South East County Council Electoral Division on 1st May 2025. Lawrence’s unwavering commitment to community politics and proven track record make him the ideal candidate to represent us.
In 2024, Lawrence was our British Democrat candidate in the newly formed Shepway ward for the Maidstone Borough Council elections. His impressive party percentage of 18% is a solid base to build on.
Lawrence will represent the Maidstone South East Electoral Division, which covers part of the Shepway ward where he previously ran as a candidate.
Key issues Lawrence is campaigning on this year are as follows:
• Housing should prioritise residents and veterans first. We do not want Maidstone to become a destination for London’s overspill or migrants crossing the channel.
• Improving road surface and infrastructure.
• Preserving the semi-rural character of Maidstone from overdevelopment, which includes protecting our green spaces, maintaining our unique local architecture, and ensuring that any new developments are in keeping with the area’s character.
• Investment in facilities for youngsters, including new and improved play areas.
• Council Tax reduction.
Lawrence informed our website team, “Britain saw a net legal immigration figure f 728,000 last year. Unlike the Neo-Tory Reform UK party—led by the professional phoney Nigel Farage—which promotes a ridiculous and ineffective one-in, one-out Net Zero immigration policy, the British Democrats propose to implement a meaningful ten-year moratorium on immigration. The British people now have a genuine alternative in the British Democrats.”
Your support and involvement are vital to Lawrence’s campaign. If you share his vision for Maidstone South East or would like to attend future branch meetings in Maidstone, please get in touch with us using the details provided at the bottom of this page. Together, we can make a difference.
