British Democrats volunteers were out in Noak Bridge, Basildon, earlier this week taking part in a community clean-up. This action followed a request made by a local resident to our Parish Councillor, Chris Bateman, during the recent local election campaign.
After receiving Councillor Bateman’s election leaflet, the resident emailed us asking for help. She had previously pleaded with both the local Council and the contractor, Morgan Sindall, to at least come and view the block regarding the following issues:
• Bird waste accumulating in the entrance, which was both disgusting and a health hazard. There were literally piles of it, not just the odd dropping.
• Subsidence, which was causing various problems, including huge pools of water.
• A broken drainpipe.
• Missing, damaged, and cracked Perspex windows.
• A broken security entrance door and missing covers for the outdoor electric and gas meters.
Our tireless team stepped in to clean up the bird waste, graffiti, rubbish, and a general build-up of grime on the staircase of the block of flats, an area that had been entirely neglected by the local authority.
In addition to the physical clean-up, Councillor Bateman has contacted the relevant departments to ensure the necessary repairs are carried out effectively.
These are the day-to-day issues that must be dealt with by local representatives. Wherever British Democrats councillors are elected, we fill these roles tremendously.
Our team’s efforts did not end there; we subsequently moved to Billericay High Street to continue our action day by distributing leaflets and engaging with shoppers.
